The Crandon Park Open Waterway Project, designed by Terra Civil Engineering, consists of the construction of a small canal to interconnect two existing dead-end man-made canals, so it can be used by kayaks and canoes. The total excavated volume will include approximately 100 cubic yards of fill under the existing paved roadway and an additional 200 cubic yards of fill, silt and unconsolidated sediment material, below the water elevation, and near the mouths of the new canal. The project also calls for the removal of approximately 2,500 sq. ft. of an existing paved  road and the creation of a bird rookery area.  Additionally, approximately 1,500 sq. ft. of an existing paved  road will be removed and replaced with sod. The existing manmade canals that we are interconnecting are dead-end and not connected to any tidal or open body of water.
